OWSLEBURY MOVIOLA presents
Black Bag (15)
With Michael Fassbender & Cate Blanchett
Thursday 20 November 7.30pm
(Doors open for licensed bar and ice cream at 7.00pm: Tickets £9)
National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) agent George Woodhouse (Michael Fassbender) faces a challenging assignment. There’s a mole in the agency with plans to activate a destructive cyber worm called Severus. George is tasked with identifying the mole. His list of five suspects includes four of his agency friends and colleagues at the NCSC, with the fifth being his beloved wife Kathryn St. Jean (Cate Blanchett).
“There is very little in the way of action, if you were expecting that, and while it occasionally genuflects towards genre . . . its pleasures lie in the dialogue, the twists, the reveals. It all leads to a delightful Agatha Christie-style drawing room denouement, in which the rat is exposed, their best-laid plans laid to waste. Like the film as a whole, it’s deliciously, lip-smackingly satisfying.” Empire

Moviola’s Future
Moviola is the Charity behind our film evenings. For many years they have supplied a turn-key service to village communities, sourcing, licensing films and providing the equipment and Brian, our projectionist. In recent years the demand for this service has dwindled and regrettably Moviola has advised that from the end of 2025 they will no longer be able to offer this service in Hampshire. This will be a big loss to the village as it is unlikely that we will be able to fund and manage our own equipment.
Whilst we continue to explore this option, an alternative might be to evolve Moviola into a village film club that organises group trips to local cinemas. This would entail some co-ordination and shared transport but continue the interest in film-going and community social activity.
